REC Market gains three new classes of RECs
With the passing of Massachusetts Senate Bill 2768 in May 2009 (better known as the Green Communities Act) three additional classes of RECs were created in the RPS:
- Massachusetts Class II
- Massachusetts Class II Waste to Energy
- Massachusetts Alternative Portfolio Standard (APS) Credits
Since the inception of these markets, activity has been limited until today, where 2009 vintage Massachusetts APS Credits traded furiously from $16.50 up to $17.50 per credit. Evolution Markets brokered five MA APS transactions in this price range. The market is now being quoted $17.00 bid, offered at $18.25 per credit.
